empowering your curious, capable, and confident child
Between two and three, children grow at a pace that takes your breath away. Our job is to make sure no moment of that growth is missed.
Our Toddler pre-nursery program offers a safe, structured, and joyful environment for children aged 2 to 3 years. A critical window for language acquisition, motor development, and the foundational social-emotional skills that underpin everything that follows.
Toddlers at Guidepost don’t wait to be told what to do. They choose, explore, and discover. They leave every day a little more capable and a little more confident than when they arrived.
program highlights.
Real Work, Real Tools
A two-year-old washing a window with a real squeegee. Another child mopping up a spill she made. A small basket of laundry being folded with serious concentration. This is what Montessori calls Practical Life. Not pretend cooking. Not toy brooms. Children at this age want desperately to participate in the real world. When we let them, they build coordination, concentration, and a sense of contribution that no toy can deliver.
Language Explosion, Supported with Precision
A guide kneeling at child-eye level, naming animals with their proper names: "this is a giraffe, this is a zebra," in English and Mandarin. Books read slowly. Songs sung daily. Between two and three, your child can move from two-word phrases to full sentences in months. The size of her vocabulary at age three predicts her reading ability years later. We use real, varied, precise language because it builds the brain that will read.
Movement as the Foundation of Learning
Climbing, carrying, pouring, sweeping. A child stacking heavy wooden blocks, then putting them back. Hands and feet engaged in real work, not abstract play. Under age six, the body teaches the mind. Coordinated movement builds the neural foundations for concentration, problem-solving, and self-regulation. A child who can carry her own tray learns more than balance. She learns: I am capable.
Toilet Learning Without Pressure
Child-sized bathrooms, accessible without help. Familiar routines. A guide watching for readiness signs, never imposing a schedule. No stickers, no charts, no reward systems. Toileting is a developmental milestone, not a behavioral target. We support your child to recognize her own body's signals and respond to them. Children who learn this way develop a calm, confident relationship with their own bodies.
Grace and Courtesy: Social Skills, Taught
Lessons in how to greet a friend, how to ask to join a game, how to wait for a turn. Modeled, role-played, and practiced as carefully as any other lesson. Social-emotional skills are not assumed. They are taught. The classroom is a small society where children learn to live together with kindness and care. The skills they build here travel home.
